Xylene, asphaltenes and well intervention: preparing a purchase enquiry

Preparing a xylene enquiry for a well intervention contractor? These points help procurement teams compare proposals and plan receipt of the product.

Prepared by PETRO-ZÉNITH · Updated 23 October 2026

Understand the application first

Xylene is an aromatic solvent used in certain workover operations for asphaltic materials. Organic deposits may form in tubing, perforations or the formation. Specialists select the treatment against the deposit and site conditions; solvent suitability cannot be established from the product name alone.

Distinguish treatment design from supply

Well diagnosis, compatibility testing and the treatment programme remain the responsibility of specialists. The purchasing enquiry should reproduce their product reference and acceptance criteria. This guide provides no injection recipe or treatment sizing.

Make proposals comparable

Specify the required grade, composition or parameters, intended application, volume per operation or order and expected frequency. A commercial product name does not replace a specification. Identify any mandatory product or manufacturer before requesting a proposal.

Check product documentation

Request the technical data sheet and safety data sheet for the proposed grade. If a batch certificate of analysis is required, state this in the enquiry and confirm availability. Contractual values and acceptance criteria must match the product and batch offered rather than a generic document.

Prepare delivery and supplier registration

Provide the receiving site and wilaya, access and unloading constraints, preferred packaging and target dates. For recurring needs, distinguish volume per delivery from estimated consumption. Include supplier registration documents and the procurement approval process.

Submit a clear requirement

An enquiry can include: company and contact; application; grade or specification; quantity per order; frequency; delivery site; packaging; required documents; target date. PETRO-ZÉNITH reviews these details before confirming commercial and logistics terms.

General information for professional buyers. Supply terms and technical acceptance are specific to each enquiry.
