Three documents, different purposes
A technical data sheet describes the commercial grade and its characteristics. An SDS explains hazards and information relevant to prevention. A certificate of analysis, when supplied, reports declared results for an identified batch. These documents serve different needs.
Review the technical data sheet
Check the product reference, revision date and units. Some figures are typical values; others are specification limits. If your process requires a particular limit, have it clarified in the offer. A general data sheet is not itself an analysis result for the delivered batch.
Identify the correct SDS
Request the version matching the relevant product and supplier. Check identification, revision date and sections relevant to your operation, including hazards, handling, storage and transport. Your competent site teams use this information in their assessment; this guide does not replace the SDS.
Match the batch to the order
Where a certificate of analysis is required, agree availability before ordering. Check that the product reference and batch number correspond to delivery documents. Also specify quantity, unit and packaging so reception can be checked against the accepted offer.
Further references
International documentary references. Requirements for your operation and documentation for the grade offered still need verification.
